Here's the discrepancy flagged up top. Golf Monthly gives the Sky Sports Golf simulcast as 5pm to 6.30pm. The DP World Tour's own TV schedule page says Sky Sports Golf and Sky Sports Main Event will carry the final hour from 6pm to 7pm. Neither has been corrected. If you only want the finish, set aside 5pm to 7pm and you're covered either way.

What Lowry is actually playing for

A seventh DP World Tour title, and the end of a four-year wait for a solo win.

Golfmagic reports Lowry, 39, is seeking his first individual victory in exactly four years. Golf Monthly puts the last one at the 2022 BMW PGA Championship, where he beat Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm by a stroke. His most recent win of any kind came at the 2024 Zurich Classic, the team event he played alongside McIlroy.

He won this tournament as an amateur in 2009. Golfmagic notes he arrived at Doonbeg having missed the second leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs and slid from 26th to 53rd in the world this season.

Olesen, the sole realistic challenger on paper, bogeyed the 18th on Saturday for a 66 and a 12-under total.

The rest of the picture

McIlroy is already finished. The defending champion closed with a 3-under 67, his best round of the week, containing seven birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey, to end on 1-under. He told reporters he felt he wasn't too far away heading to Wentworth.

Niemann is third on 9-under. Tom McKibbin is the next-best Irish player at 7-under alongside Daniel Rodrigues. Tyrrell Hatton missed the cut after a Friday 78.

One thing worth knowing if you're watching from the start: Golf Monthly reports players voiced frustration over pace of play at Doonbeg this week, with one describing it as probably the longest round of golf he'd ever played. A links course with big galleries and a presidential security operation is not a fast day out.

Speaking of which, Trump is expected on site and has been widely reported as likely to present the trophy. GalwayBayFM described him on Saturday as the first US President to attend a DP World Tour event. Nothing had been officially confirmed about the ceremony at the time of writing.
