The road to the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor officially begins later this month. Ryder Cup Europe confirmed on August 4, 2026 that the qualification process for Team Europe will start at the Husqvarna British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo, taking place at The Belfry from August 27–30.
It's a fitting venue to launch the campaign. The Belfry has hosted the Ryder Cup four times — in 1985, 1989, 1993 and 2002 — and Sir Nick Faldo, who hosts the event, is one of the most capped players in the competition's history.
How the 2027 European Qualifying System Works
The 2027 process retains the single Ryder Cup Points List format introduced for the 2025 cycle, replacing the old dual European Points List and World Points List system.

The 2025 system also restricted PGA TOUR points eligibility to events not scheduled against DP World Tour Rolex Series events, with one exception (the ISCO Championship, played opposite the Genesis Scottish Open). Points were awarded at The Zurich Classic with 50% allocated to each player, but only if both were European.
Luke Donald: Chasing History as Three-Time Captain
Luke Donald will captain Team Europe for the third consecutive Ryder Cup — the first player to do so since Bernard Gallacher led the side in 1991, 1993 and 1995.
Donald's record speaks for itself: victories at Marco Simone in 2023 and Bethpage Black in 2025. A win at Adare Manor would make him the first European captain since Tony Jacklin (1985, 1987, 1989) to win three consecutive matches.
"The start of qualification is always a notable milestone in the Ryder Cup journey," Donald said in the official Ryder Cup Europe announcement. "We have a lot of talented European players at the moment, some with Ryder Cup experience and others who will be trying to qualify for the first time. I am therefore really looking forward to seeing them compete to qualify for Team Europe over the next 12 months."
Adare Manor: A Centenary Celebration
The 2027 Ryder Cup carries extra significance. It marks the 100th anniversary of the competition, first played in 1927 at Worcester Country Club in Massachusetts, where Walter Hagen's United States defeated Ted Ray's Great Britain 9½–2½.
Adare Manor in County Limerick becomes only the second Irish venue to host the Ryder Cup, following The K Club in 2006 — where Europe, captained by Ian Woosnam, recorded a record-equalling 18½–9½ victory.
